Apparently I am a slacker
at least that is what my Mom says... so I am updating for you... this blog has 2 sections, food and guys... enjoy! haha
Upon arrival in Venice I rekindled my passionate love affair with gelato. We have been apart for many years, since my last visit (gelato in the states is nothing compared to the real thing, so I just stay away). I started my walk through Venice with 2 scoops of gelato in a bowl, in the next hour I had consumed a total of 6 scoops and it only cost about 5 Euro. I created what is fondly known as the 6 gelato club (making fun of the guys on this trip who try to do the 5 liter club, 5 liters of beer in 5 hours... so stupid). The 6 gelato club is great, and I might bring it up to the 10 gelato club (in one hour, mind you) when I revisit in April.
My first night in Greece introduced me to my next love, as my fling with gelato was shortlived, the Greecian cheese bite (his cousins that I also flirt with are cheese crouquettes and cheese balls and fried cheese and cheese salad) whoa man. The cheese here is wonderful. And I think my arteries are about to kill me. I eat it all the time, yesterday was the first day that i did not have a cheese anything (although I did have 2 ice cream cones). I am going to miss my Greecian cheese, but I am loving it while I am here.
next item on the ballot: Paulis and Kostas
Paulis met Liz and I at the internet cafe and tried to start up a conversation. "Where are you from?" "Oh I lived in Poland for the last 6 years, I just ended a relationship there and came back to Greece, my homeland" "Oh what is your name again, I forgot" We finally responded, uh we didn't tell you our names. Then he tried to guess our signs... are you gemini (no) oh aquarius (no) you must be a capricorn (nope) cancer? that has to be it (no, I do not really follow signs) he never got it. We had to tell him we were Aries. Then his friend Kostas came outside and tried to get us to come inside for a drink (no we are waiting for our friends, we are leaving soon). They wanted to take us out to a bar for a drink. So we finally convinced them just to tell us the name of the bar and we would meet them there. Needless to say, we never went. haha These Greek guys are funny... just like American boys. haha but I laugh because prior to departure, I said I wanted to meet a Kostas in Greece (the cute boy in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is Kostas). This Kostas was about 30 and there was no wway the conversation was going to continue. Liz and I spent a nice night in the hotel watching the Olympics, we loved the American guys, and were sad when they got 4th and 5th, oh and 7th.
So how was that Mom? better? haha I hope this was a little entertaining, and remember, anyone can comment, youdo not need to be a member! haha
